Wow! To say I’m excited about this new closet design reveal is a HUGE understatement! I am completely blown away at our new closet and pantry! When designing our home it was very important for me to have a large closet since in our last house I used the spare bedroom lol. When it came to making the decision to spend the money on a custom closet or not we definitely went back and forth with the idea of it vs the normal wire shelves that came with the house vs Ikea shelving!
For me, I felt like the decision was actually hard to make because I do believe that the wire shelves give you so much more room to hang things where the custom closet I didn’t think there was much so I was afraid of how it would turn out! But boy was I wrong! I have so much space I don’t know what we’re going to do with it all!
Get estimates….always!
I will say, do your homework and get plenty of estimates! For us, it was the ease of having the women at The Closet Store come out and kind of walk us through it and only give a couple of options vs another installer who came out and then wanted us to make another appointment to design the closet and all the finishings in their office. Neither I nor Randy has the patience for that so The Closet Store just jotted down what hardware we wanted and what color shelves and she sent us a mock-up within the week! We obviously had a budget too so staying within that budget was huge especially for Randy since he was the one paying for it!
After we received the mock-ups we were IN LOVE! I should say I was in love with the closet and Randy was in love with the PRICE! The Closet Store came WAY under budget for both the closet AND our pantry and looked exactly what we had pictured! The other quotes that we received were A TON more money so we immediately put a deposit down for The Closet Store and they were installed IN LESS THAN A MONTH! I’ll put the mock-ups below but honestly so far, I am sold on a custom closet and pantry! I am very happy with our decision and I’d say if you have a budget for it, I’d go for it!
The pantry
The same can be said for the pantry, now the pantry was Randy’s baby lol! We had a small pantry at our old house and it was hard to get in and see what you had in there so Randy really wanted a clean, white, open pantry to be able to see what we had! The Closet Store really did a great job with that too and we were able to incorporate pull-out drawers and make the corner of it a wrap-around shelf which looks so great! Once again we came in under budget too!

Pro tip if you’re building and plan on doing custom closets or pantry don’t let the builder put in the wire shelves because then you’ll have to patch the holes before installing the closet.
